Who this suits
People who prefer something to hold or look at, and anyone who finds eye contact or verbal sharing effortful.
When to use it
Good for groups, for outdoor sessions, and for anyone who grounds more easily through objects than through the body.
A note on the approach
Holding a natural object shifts attention outward rather than inward, which for many neurodivergent and trauma-experienced people is markedly easier than being asked to scan internal sensation.
Having physical objects from nature can help ground attention outward rather than inward.
